CPS History & Overview
CPS was formed in 2003 in response to Pope John Paul II’s impassioned outreach to the laity, which he so eloquently expresses in his encyclicals, and in response to the US Catholic Bishops’ pastoral letter Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics.

About Our Founder
CPS was founded by Marlene Elwell who, thirty years ago, was also one of the founders of Right to Life of Michigan, which grew to be a national organization. Learn more about the wonders God can do when we follow His call.

Historical Information on the "Catholic Vote"
Politicians in years past actively sought the "Catholic Vote." Learn how the "Catholic Vote" has changed over the years, and how its impact on the "political scene" has been lost.

CPS News
CPS action updates, stories and articles of interest--both past and present.

Current Projects
Conscious of the great need for the Catholic voice to be articulately spoken in the Public Square, CPS has been involved in many projects including, but not limited to, the People's Override; the constitutional protection of marriage as the union of one man and one woman as instituted and ordained by God; the Children's Internet Safety Campaign, and the study of the IRS rules and political regulations that govern what can and cannot be said from the pulpit or in our churches.

Our Patron Saints
From the moment Catholics in the Public Square began, CPS has been bathed in prayer. We chose three strong patrons to intercede on our behalf. They are: St. Thomas More, our patron saint; St. Michael the Archangel, our defender; and our Holy Mother Mary, Queen of the Rosary, our intercessor.
